Hunters of Artemis

Artemis's eyes glinted, and she changed. She seemed to grow older, taller on the wolf's back. Her clothes changed into old hunting armour. It was cracked leather, dark and bristling with power. From her back she drew her bow, much longer then the others, and a silvery wood that bent and streached like willow. She drew an arrow and notched it in, holding it by her side. Then she waited.

Lestia reached for a set of golden throwing knives the pulsed with a yellowish glow. They felt warm and comforting in her hands, and she stroked them lovingly. Lestia liked them a lot more than her regular knives, and slung the belt holding them over her shoulder and across her chest. Nice. She turned to mount Dayster, but he growled, and said, "Don't you dare!"

Lestia shrugged. She was used to Dayster and knowing what would have happened if someone was dumb enough to try to ride Dayster, she mounted an average sized silver wolf that had been waiting expectantly at her side.

((Hang on... wait... I'm confused now *Headdesk* Artemis is waiting O.o))

Seeing the others mount their wolves, Fern realized that she would need to do the same to keep up. Vheni was the perfect size for Fern to ride, not too tall and not too small or frail. She would bear Fern's weight well, while keeping speed when she ran. Fern turned to the she-wolf, and Vheni motioned for Fern to mount, as if she had been waiting for Fern to realize that they would need to mount. Fern had hunted from Vheni's back a few times, so she figured it would not be a problem, and so she sat, relaxed.

Fern turned to Artemis to find that the Goddess was changing from her girl form, and she became adorned with her armor and weapons. Fern noted the silvery arrow, and knew that one shot would deliver death.

Wondering what Artemis would choose as prey, Fern waited silently, stroking Vheni's soft, smooth, reddish fur as she sat upon the she-wolf's back.

Artemis nodded to her newly-found hunters. She tapped the wolf's side and she began to run. They gained speed and trees flew past. They didn't hit one at all. Wind filled Artemis's ears, the world became a blur... She slowed. The trees stopped, but they were different. They were taller, denser. The forest seemed thicker, the sky was darker. She pulled the wolf around and waited again for the three girls.

Amicia shrugged and Fell began to run. Following closely behind Artemis. She slowly overtook her, and vanished. Amicia stared. Artemis had vanished. Into thin air.

Fern held on as Vheni began to run after Artemis and the other girl on the white wolf. They galloped on, slowly increasing speed, until Artemis vanished. Startled, Vheni began to stop when everything blurred, and it seemed like they were going impossibly fast. Fern tried to look around, but there was nothing to look at, for everything was going past so quickly that they were unable to catch even a glimpse of the things rushing by. Fern clung onto Vheni for dear life, until everything slowed, and Fern was able to see correctly again, and Vheni was able to stop.
"Where are we?" Fern asked Vheni, confused.
"I'm not sure..." Vheni replied, looking around.
Fern turned her head this way and that, trying to glimpse something, anything familiar. Finally she found someone she was glad to see: Artemis, seemingly waiting for them. To Vheni, Fern pointed the goddess out, and Vheni picked up a brisk trot toward the Timber wolves.
"What was that?" Fern asked as she reached the waiting goddess.

Amicia gained speed, faster and faster, she had to trust Fell now. Everything blurred and she began to feel sick. Her heart was almost in her throat, throbbing. They stopped, and Amicia's head took a few minutes too stop spinning, she blinked, looking around.

Artemis smiled. We are in a different wood. This forest is filled with monsters of all kinds, small and harmless, to big and leathal. This is where we shall hunt. You have just traveled across the world, almost back in time.

Lestia gasped. "You can do that?"

Dayster lopped over to Lestia and gave her another cuff on the head with his tail. She glared at him, but didn't say anything, just massaged her sore head.

Fern listened to Artemis silently, but she too, was surprised. She held her tongue, refraining from asking questions, however. Artemis was a goddess, after all, and she didn't want to risk annoying or angering her.

The girl with the dragon-wolf blurted out what Fern was thinking, and Fern had to stifle a smile as her dragon-wolf smacked her with his tail. They seemed to have a nice relationship going.

Fern reached forward and pet Vheni right behind her ears, where she knew that the she-wolf loved to be scratched. Vheni tilted her head and closed her eyes, enjoying it, and Fern smiled, then straightened up and looked at the goddess, waiting for something. All three of the girls were here, and naturally Fern expected Artemis to do something. After all, she had said that they were going on a hunt.

Artemis smiled, allowing herself a moment or two to bask in the momentary proud feeling. From the slightesed movement of the wolf she was mounted on, she could feel it's muscles tensing. There are monsters near. She told her new hunters. Let us see how you can deal with them. She smiled to them, drawing her bow as the wolf lept towards the noise.

Amicia nodded the the godess, and set of after her, wanting to see more. Fell seemed curious also, Amicia could feel her shaking slightly.

Before Lestia could say anything, they were off, her wolf leaping gracefully through the trees. She gripped the fur around the wolf's neck, leaned forward, and held on. She glanced to her side, and found Dayster half loping, half flying. Every time he sprang, he flapped his wings and glided gracefully back down. She looked forward again, at Artemis and the others. She marveled at the speed at which they rode. To Lestia, it was almost like they were half flying, too.
